conclusion
The American pageant has been stereotyping young women since 1920.
The pageant world affects women and children; And, the idea of the American women--how she should act and look. Pageantry has been known for focusing on women’s physical appearance since it began. Although now there are many other factors similar to the pageant and this ranking of beauty: stereotypes, pop-culture, gender and the idea that we should conform to these standards. Throughout this investigation readers looked at, if pageantry helps the American women achieve her American Dream or does it potentially close off access for some women. The reader has interrogated the role of the beauty pageant through a gender lens. Through this research I have concluded that I personally think that pageantry and other influences do manipulate the physical American dream for women. No matter how firm a women stood against the these factors they are almost imminent. Due to the fact that as humans we wish to have psychical equality with people surrounding us and to better our children--so that they may not feel that hurt from not "fitting the mold". I feel that these social influences have cut off the dream for some women who do not receive the opportunities or the fact that they are born that way! The stereotype is too strong to be broken. While these television shows like Toddlers in Tiaras is practically brain washing children to be bratzilla--like they do not already receive the stereotypical influence in other ways. I have not concluded a solution from this research, but I have concluded the problem. American women are pressured so drastically to conform to a standard physical beauty that they have no way of escaping and creating a personalized physical American dream.
